Pediatric Electronic Health Record

Family physicians and pediatricians are invited to participate...

There are gaps in the effectiveness of current EHR products to assist providers as they provide quality care to child patients. North Carolina Community Care Networks would like to give providers an opportunity to get involved in changing the EHR landscape.

NCCCN is collaborating with the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ) and research corporation Westat on a Pediatric EHR model. This model is a set of evidence-based standards and best practices that will be used in the process of care for small to large practices.

Areas of focus include developmental, asthma, and autism (MCHAT) screening, growth charting and preventive care reminders.

It is anticipated that the model will influence the criteria for future EHR product certification. NCCCN is beginning our work with participating practices and EHR vendors to evaluate the effectiveness of the model on the delivery of quality child health care.

Family physicians and pediatricians at the forefront of child health care are encouraged to participate in the evaluation of the model EHR format and its impact on child health care quality and cost.
